Since hubby is in exceptional health and hasnt had any medical problems (knock on wood!) he continues without health insurance; I remain on my parents plan as I'm 25 (aka under 26yrs old), and we pay for child health plus for my daughter, for a small fee a month, which depends on our income We simply couldn't afford to pay $800 a month for family coverage, so doing it this way saves us, like $600+! So since we don't make enough to pay for hubbys $800 family plan through work, is obamacare basically going to force hubby to get health insurance through his work, even though it's complete garbage? Or will his employer have more affordable family plan that we could afford? Just trying to understand it all better! Thanks in advance! :-)

Ok. i have a direct debit set up with swinton for my car insurance every 26th of the month. This december I got paid on the 18th and i have left no money in there for my direct debit to come out when they took it out on 29th decemeber. I didnt realise this happened until friday 29th january and got a phonecall form them telling me they are cancelling my car insurance. I was angry as I had no letters to confirm this and no phonecalls. My phone is broken and I had changed my address (which i have given them about 10 times) they said there was nothing i could do and cancelled my insurance. They have now told me that because i havent paid that its been sent to the debt collectors and is a criminal offence!!! My argument is they did not change my address even after I had told them time after time. Is there anything I can do, or if anyone has any advice what I do now. I have set up a new insurance now but its 8 more than my last one!!

I am a 18 year old female(I'll be 19 in a few weeks) living in Florida and just got my permit on December of 2011, and license July of 2012. I am going to the Honda dealership on October 1st with my dad to purchase my first car. We are not to sure if we are going to lease or finance, it all depends on the car rates and the deals they offer. I will be under my moms insurance through Geico. Because I am a first time driver and a girl i know it can be a little expensive. I know I can get discounts by having good grades which is good because I actually did have good grades in high school and currently attending a college. I just want to know estimates of how much I will be paying. Oh yeah, because I will be paying for my insurance. Not my mom nor my dad. I know it also depends on what type of car you have as well. I live in Southern California, I have been looking for work since I moved here from France. I posted a general sales resume on careerbuilder.com and have since been spammed by insurance agencies. Some have been good companies like State Farm and Farmers. Some have been less, like Colonial Life and Axa advisers. I believe Axa wanted me for a commissioned investment broker position. I didn't pass the personality test for State Farm, but I can try again in a year. I will have a strategy and research next time. State Farm has 9 month paid training, a huge signing bonus at the end and would be an excellent opportunity but it isn't for right now. What I did learn through all of this, especially from Colonial Life is that the insurance licenses aren't that hard or expensive to get. I'm thinking of getting life, health and auto. Does any one know of companies that have non-independent, salaried agents? I would like a commission, but not the 100% commission based model of Colonial or Axa. I also don't want to cold-call or drop off 180 envelops a week like Colonial demands. I don't want to be independent for the moment, although that is possible in the future with a good company like Farmers or State Farm. Right now I could work as a salaried sales person through an independent agent or direct hire. What is the best way to get on-board?

I got a ticket for speeding (67 in a 50) a little over 8 months ago. I took it to court because it was a first offense and got the points down from 2 to 1. I never got anything from my insurance company, so I thought I got lucky and my rates would stay the same. About three weeks ago, we had a bad wind storm in Maryland and a tree limb fell on my jeep. I reported it the same day and the insurance is fixing. Yesterday I got a letter in the mail from my insurance saying my rates were going up from the ticket in March. Do you think that my report of the tree limb triggered them to look at my driving record and raise the rate or is it just a coincidence that this happened at the same time?
